Shabby up your room!!

For a person that loves all things vintage, quirky, cute and arty; I would say when it comes to decorating a room I am quite specific. Whether it be a living, dining or bedroom I like to 'pimp up my crib' to suit my personality. I wouldn't say I have the BEST bedroom, but I love the fact its my own space which I have had a heavy input in.

Recently what has caught my eye is the little details that make a big difference in a room. I always thought it was about the colour of paint or the right wallpaper that made a room... a room.
To my surprise I realized that it was all about the little candles, little baskets, ornaments that really showed off your personality within the room.

So basically, I went all out trying to decorate as much as I could by myself that way it would have me all stamped over it.

One of the things that I was eager to give a go are 'hanging hearts'

I think there so cute and you could hang them anywhere, on a door knob, on the curtain pole.

QUICK AND EASY WAY TO MAKE YOUR OWN HANGING HEART!!

Step 1) Choose your material

Choose any material that you would think works best, I think shabby chic fabric is by far the best. The floral print work against the polkadots and stripes is just so cute.
I opted for a white plain fabric just so that's easier for you lot to see what I'm doing

Step 2) Fold fabric and draw a heart

If you wanted to, you could of used a heart template, placing it on the fabric and cutting around it. I just drew straight onto the fabric, all the pen lines will be hidden away afterwards.

Step 3) Cut around the heart

You'll find that you will end up with two identical hearts, don't chuck away the scrap material, you'll need it later.

Step 4) Stitch the two hearts together

The stitching could be any type of stitch you want, as long as both the hearts are securely fastened together.
REMEMBER! Don't stitch all the way around the hearts, leave a gap somewhere, preferably at the top because you'll need to turn the hearts inside out and stuff the heart.

Step 5) Stuff the heart

In order to stuff the heart you could buy foam padding or even just wool from any arts and craft shop. However, if you don't have any which unfortunately I didn't, then using the scrap material you had left over cut lots of little squares, strips you name it. This is what you'll use to stuff your heart. After you have finished stuffing your heart (fabric heart that is, not the real thing) carry on stitching up that little gap you left, so that no padding falls out.

Step 6) Decorate!!!!

Decorate with any little bits and bobs you have. Remember the more handmade it looks, the better! Definitely use ribbon so that you can hang it somewhere

FINISHED!!!! Hang it anywhere or even have it on a shelf somewhere. Sit back and enjoy looking at your own work :)

A Pretty Little Blog...

For those of you who don't know me; which quite evidently would be a load of you out there, for 3 years now I have been falling off the edge of my bed watching a series which I could most definitely say has taken over my life.

What is this captivating programme you speak of?

It obviously has to be Pretty Little Liars
Yes, this is the one

I know some of you may say, 3 years? the series has been running since 2010. I have to admit I was a tad late on the bandwagon with this one.

For those of you who are not familiar with this programme, it's an American teen drama and mystery thriller set in a fictional town 'Rosewood' about five best friends, Alison DiLaurentis (The Queen Bee), Aria Montgomery, Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin and Emily Fields. Their group falls apart and each girl heads their separate ways after their Queen Bee Alison goes missing. A year later (this is where us viewers, are watching it from) Aria moves back to Rosewood after a holiday in Iceland and realizes a lot has changed since Alison disappeared. A few days goes past, and a body is found; we are told it is Alison's body and so the 'disappearance' element to this story is ruled out as she is now dead. Later, the girls begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure using the name "A", who threatens to expose their secrets. At first, they think it's Alison herself, but after her body is found, the girls realize that someone else knows their secrets—including long-hidden ones they thought only Alison knew. "A" also stalked Alison when she was alive, and the girls continue to discover more and more information about "A" and Alison's disappearance—all while risking their lives.

One of my friends was obsessed with it and would always ramble on about it. I was never really bothered to check it out, because of the fact she loved her chick flick kind of movies, and she HATES horror with a passion!
So when she explained this programme, it's plot and how it was sort of a thriller I automatically presumed she was off it. She hates thrillers so I just thought that she was probably the only one finding it scary.

Whereas, me, I love my horror and mysterious thrillers, so if I was to watch it; I'd want it to make me piss myself so much that I'd need a lifeboat to get out of it.

Going back to how I started watching it, a year went pass, she'd already finished watching season 1 and was so caught up about the whole thing and was desperately trying to get at least one of her friends to join in with the whole PLL theory situation. By this time I had a lot of spare time on my hands because we were just reaching the end of last year in school.

With all this free time, I thought why not? At first I have to admit I still didn't want to watch it. But by the time I finished catching up on Glee, The Vampire Diaries, Merlin, 90210 I was left bored out of my mind and desperately looking for something that would keep me going for some time.

After a few days, I then finally decided, YES! it's time to see what all the fuss is about. About 20 minutes into the programme, I still didn't see why my friend was so addicted to this, but I thought, NO! I'm going to at least finish the episode and then I can decide whether or not to continue watching. I can't just throw in the towel 20 minutes into a programme, I probably didn't even reach the juicy bits.

Another 20 or 22 minutes later the episode finished with the last scene being a cliffhanger where the girls receive a slightly alarming text message from an 'A' character. So for any normal person that doesn't really watch many horrors, mystery, psychotic thrillers, the ending to this first episode probably might have made you wee yourself a little.

It wasn't really the best cliffhanger for me, but then again that's probably because my friend had already told me the whole plot and mystery behind it.

I did however, eventually convince myself to watch the second episode, then the third, then the fourth and then I found myself watching 5 episodes a day and finishing the whole of season 1 before the second one even started.

Its just the best programme out there! I'm being totally serious, men could even watch it and not be bored. I'm currently on season 4 and now seriously hooked on this thing. Me and my friend are constantly phoning each other up and talking theories and clues. Nothing is as it seems in this programme you seriously have to think 5 times before ruling something out.

If your one of those people who love looking for clues and linking things together then this is the programme for you. Everything from the first ever episode and the last ties together into a deadly little bow. It's full of surprises and bits that make you jump. Have I mentioned the Halloween episodes. No? OMG, they are the BEST!!!!! They make the Halloween episodes a bit different and more complicated, they also give away a lot of clues in them and they are just so hard to get your head around.

But the thing that most intrigues me, is the fact that this programme is based on a book series that's already been published. So most people are just sitting back and thinking that they know what's going to happen because it says so in the book. But the director of this show Marlene King, has already said that the series is going to be nothing like the book. So what I'm wondering is, what can they do that will still leave us gasping for oxygen but is going to be different than the book. The book itself had an AWESOME plot and ending.

Weird thing was, I don't read, I hate reading. It's another reason why I started this blog, so I can at least try to read something. But, I've never read anything, so I had no idea that there was a book that this programme is based on. I remember phoning up my friend and telling her, I think that this, this and this is going to happen, I've found so many clues to back up my point and so many hints as well. Unfortunately, she told me that my theory was good but it's what happens in the book and were not following the book.

Finishing off, all I'm going to say is, if you don't watch this programme then what have you been doing with your life. If you do watch it, then shout out to you guys, your my kind of people. HOLLAAHH!!! I mean if you don't want to watch it for the actual plot then at least watch it for the fashion and eye candy ;)

and that's not even all of them...

Ciao for now fellow earthlings.

Joining the blogging world...

Hello, Ola, Bonjour, Kon'nichiwa; whatever floats your boat.
Blogging has been around for so long, but its never really ever appealed to me until now. The thought of sitting alone by yourself, technically talking to yourself seemed a little absurd... anndd maybe a little crazy (like something someone that's been sent to a mental asylum would do). However, like always the magic of television brainwashed me into doing so.
If anyone out there watches 'Awkward' then you'll understand why this attraction of blogging started whirling around in my head in the first place.

Yes, I'm talking about this programme

'Awkward' is basically an American teen comedy about a teenage girl (Jenna Hamilton) who struggles to find her identity in school. To make things worse there was an early incident involving some pills, a bathtub and an unfortunate blog entry that made it look as if she wanted to commit suicide, so unfortunately for her she was known as the 'crazy girl that wanted to kill herself'. Anyway, going back to why I decided to start blogging; So this character goes home everyday feeling poopy about herself decides to start writing a blog online under an anonymous identity. But as we all know when it comes to the world of 'TV' secrets never stay secrets.
She blogs away everything that's happening in her life and what has happened, boy troubles, bitching about her nemesis Sadie (who I think is totally hilarious) but she does all of this in such a mature yet, pissing yourself laughing kind of way.
So... that's why I decided to give this thing a go.
Wish me luck :)
